Thank you for choosing Book a Move. Please take a moment to read our Terms and Conditions, which apply to all services we provide. We’ve kept the language straightforward to ensure clarity.

1. Definitions

In these terms:

  • “We” means Celefest Pty Ltd, trading as Book a Move, ABN 27 128 523 839. “Us” and “Our” hold the same meaning.
  • “You” refers to the party entering into an agreement with us for services.
  • “Goods” means the items, furniture, and effects subject to our services.
  • “Services” refers to the entire scope of work we undertake, including removal and, where applicable, storage.
  • Words in singular include the plural and vice versa, and terms apply to all genders.

2. We Are Not Common Carriers

We are not common carriers and do not accept liability as such. We reserve the right to refuse carriage of any goods at our discretion.

3. Your Obligations and Warranties

3.1 Information Supplied by You

We rely on the information you provide. You guarantee its accuracy.

3.2 Agreement to Commence the Move

Before starting your move, the driver will ask you or an authorized agent to sign a job sheet. This includes:

  • Start time
  • Job number
  • Agreement to these Terms and Conditions

Without this signed agreement, the move cannot proceed.

3.3 Ownership or Authorized Agent

You confirm that you are the owner of the goods or authorized to act on their behalf. Any person giving instructions on your behalf is deemed authorized unless you notify us otherwise.

3.4 Presence at Loading and Unloading

You or your representative must be present during the entire process. Verbal agreement on the condition of goods will be made, and any special notes can be recorded on the job sheet.

3.5 Fragile Goods

Notify us verbally before the move if your goods include fragile items requiring special care. Failure to do so means we cannot be held liable for damage.

3.6 Goods Left Behind or Moved in Error

It is your responsibility to ensure all intended goods are loaded and none are taken by mistake.

3.7 Completion of Move

At the end of the move, you or your representative may need to sign a feedback/job sheet confirming your satisfaction.

4. Delivery

4.1 Delivery Location and Authorization

We deliver only to you or your authorized recipient. If no one is present or access is restricted, we may:

  • Store the goods at your expense.
  • Arrange a re-delivery, incurring additional costs.

We will try to contact you for alternative instructions if issues arise.

4.2 Inadequate Access

If access to the property is unsafe or restricted, we may:

  • Leave goods outside the premises.
  • Return them to the pickup point at an additional cost.

We do not modify goods or property (e.g., removing doors) to address access issues.

5. Charges and Payments

5.1 Delay

We are not liable for delays caused by traffic, road conditions, or vehicle breakdowns. We’ll make every effort to notify you promptly.

5.2 Cancellation or Alterations

Cancellations or changes within 24 hours of the job may incur additional charges. Refer to Section 10 for details.

5.3 Payment Methods

We accept:

  • Cash
  • Bank Cheque (no personal cheques)
  • Credit Cards (Visa/Mastercard only) with a 2-3% surcharge.

Payment is required at job completion. We may request payment before unloading.

5.4 Lien on Goods

We retain a lien on all goods until full payment is received. If payment is not made within 14 days, we may dispose of the goods to recover costs. Storage fees start at $25/sq. meter per night.

5.5 Waiting Time (Set Rate Jobs)

For set-rate jobs, a $60/hour waiting charge applies after:

  • 10 minutes at the loading site.
  • 5 minutes at the unloading site.

Charges are calculated in 5-minute increments.

5.6 Route and Toll Roads

Detours incur extra charges starting at $20. If toll roads are used, you’re responsible for toll and administrative fees.

5.7 Price Increments (Hourly Jobs)

For jobs exceeding the booked time, charges increase in 30-minute increments.

5.8 Travel Time

Travel charges may apply for locations outside Greater Melbourne or beyond 20km from Melbourne CBD.

6. Damages

6.1 Goods in Transit

Your goods are not automatically insured. We recommend obtaining “Goods in Transit” insurance before your move.

6.2 Packaging and Inherent Risk

  • Packaging: We are not liable for damages due to inadequate packaging.
  • Inherent Risk: Certain items (e.g., electronics, pressed-wood furniture) may be prone to damage regardless of care.

6.3 Liability

If damage is caused by our negligence, we will repair the item up to $300. The first $150 of any claim is your responsibility.

6.4 Reporting Damages

Report damages immediately upon delivery to facilitate resolution.

6.5 Property Damage

We are not liable for damage to:

  • Your property  caused by factors beyond our control.
  • Third-party property unless caused by our negligence.

7. Cancellation Policy

7.1 Cancellation Notice

Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours before the scheduled job time to avoid fees.

8. Your Responsibilities

8.1 Safe Environment

Ensure a safe environment for our drivers, including:

  • Adequate lighting
  • Clear pathways

8.2 Parking

Provide sufficient parking for the moving vehicle. Parking infringements or charges incurred during the move are your responsibility.
